DOMAINE DE LA VÈNE · EST. 1999

A family home
in the Corbières hills

HOW IT BEGAN

Domaine de la Vène was discovered by our family in 1999, long before it became the house it is today.

At the time, it was little more than a ruin but, despite the immense amount of work that lay ahead, we knew there was something very special about this place. What first drew us to this region of France was the feeling of complete immersion in nature. Set within a protected conservation area of outstanding natural beauty, the domaine is surrounded by remarkable scenery and wildlife that remain wonderfully unspoilt. That sense of being rooted in the landscape has never left.

ONE FAMILY’S RESTORATION PROJECT

Built slowly,
and with care.

The Graham family restored the property slowly and thoughtfully over many years, always aiming to preserve its character as a peaceful home deeply connected to its surroundings. Inspired by extensive travels through Spain and the Middle East, James filled the house with a collection of Georgian, Victorian and French antiques gathered over time.

For many years, Domaine de la Vène was a private family home and the backdrop to much of Kitty and Rosie’s childhood. Around eight years ago, Domaine de la Vène began welcoming guests in the hope to share this special place. Today, James oversees the estate’s day-to-day running, with Kitty and Rosie working alongside the team to ensure every stay is welcoming, comfortable and relaxed.
